Indie darling Amber Tamblyn married her long-time sweetie David Cross this weekend in an intimate ceremony befitting the low-key funny couple of more than four years. No arrested development there!
The unlikely May-December pairing of Amber Tamblyn and David Cross began four years ago and culminated in a wedding Saturday! 28 year old Tamblyn got her start as an ingénue on General Hospital, enjoyed adolescent success in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and then did the Lord’s work as Joan of Arcadia. Most recently, she’s done a turn on House in its last season and appeared on 48 year old Cross’ indie comedy The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret.
Cross has enjoyed a diverse career, but may always be best known as sham-shrink Tobias Funke on Arrested Development. The kiddies will recall him as the bad guy in the live-action Alvin & the Chipmunks franchise.
The two met on an airplane and they funny man asked her to join him after she ogled him intensely. They then spent the flight mocking the Sky Mall catalogue and despite their nearly two decade age difference, hit it off. The rest is quirky-romantic history. The indie darlings have shared that their song is the Spider Man theme – Tamblyn qualifies, “Not the movie – the TV show.”
The duo’s wedding was as offbeat as their relationship with indie band Yo La Tengo playing covers of the Pixies. Past the honeymoon, Cross has the much anticipated Arrested Development movie in the works and Tamblyn can be seen in the Christmas Day release of Quentin Tarantino’s Civil War shoot ‘em up Django Unchained. For those who want to offer congrats to the sweet indie-film duo – they’re registered at Sky Mall!
