Troye Sivan is back with his new track, ‘Take Yourself Home’.

Co-written with Leland, Oscar Görres and Tayla Part, ‘Take Yourself Home’ was originally due to be released later in the year. However, after heading home to Australia and a period of isolation, the track took on a different meaning for Troye, particularly considering current world events.

‘Take Yourself Home’ is a melancholic synth-pop bop which captures the feeling of longing and isolation. It comes armed with a soaring chorus which you can easily lose yourself in, and surprises near the end as the track delves into deep-electro territory.

Speaking about the track, the ‘My My My’ singer said: “‘Take Yourself Home’ is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written. The song is kind of a pep talk with yourself and the place you’re from. Grappling with your place in the world. I write these songs as a diary entry, then as life and places change and relationships change, songs can take on a new meaning entirely. Clearly that has happened for this song, with what is going on in the world right now.”

Realising that many creatives have struggled to secure work since the COVID-19 pandemic, Troye took to social media to seek out freelance artists to help him develop the visual elements for the rollout of ‘Take Yourself Home’. Receiving an overwhelming response, the visuals for the pre-save page, lyric video and other elements were sourced from artists who responded to Troye’s solicitation.

Furthermore, Troye has also unveiled three t-shirts in support of two COVID-19 relief funds. Sourced via Instagram and designed by @jacktaylorlovatt and @Lanning, all proceeds from the t-shirts will be donated to the WHO COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and Spotify’s COVID-19 Music Relief project.
