Simon Cowell is set to launch a new TV franchise exploring real-life crimes, it’s been revealed today.
Dubbed The Investigator: A British Crime Story, the show is set to explore horrific incidents of decades past, allowing viewers to peek into evidence found by police and the events leading up to those found guilty.
“Simon is very excited about producing some serious TV shows in a very different genre to The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent,” a source reportedly told The Sun. The supposed source also claims that it’ll fuse “stylised drama with compelling documentary”.
The first four shows will explore the disappearance of Carole Packman in 1985. Her husband was eventually charged with her murder (after many appeals and retrials) but Carole herself was never found. Detective Mark Williams-Thomas will front the investigation, being on hand to offer insights into the investigation from an inside officer’s perspective.
The project certainly is a departure from escapist talent shows!
