Jon served for 8 years as an aircraft nuclear/conventional weapons specialist in the United States Air Force as well as participated in Operation Just Cause and Operation Desert Storm.

He made his first theatrical film appearance as Sammy, Terrorist in the 1996 action film Executive Decision, starring Kurt Russell, Steven Seagal, Halle Berry, Oliver Platt, David Suchet, and John Leguizamo.

He was cast as Brad Alcerro in the sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch in 1999.

From 2009 to 2016, Jon Huertas played the character named Detective Javier “Javi” Esposito, a former Army Special Forces soldier who works in the homicide division as part of Beckett’s team, in the crime-comedy drama television series Castle. Jon and his co-star Stana Katic won the award for “Performance in a Drama Episode” at the 16th Annual PRISM Awards in 2012.
