FSU's Lonni Alameda on why she didn't switch in Sandercock
FSU coach Lonni Alameda said she did not think about putting Kat Sandercock in when she switched pitchers in the fourth inning. She would have if FSU had a lead at that time. Said she needed to see other pitchers face Oklahoma hitters who are really good at making adjustments.

Gasso on Bahl: 'The best she's been all season'
Patty Gasso says Oklahoma ace Jordy Bahl is a "very, very hot pitcher right now. The best she's been all season right now."
OU 'turned the switch'
Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso said she was proud of how quickly her team "turned the switch" and began hitting the ball hard and stringing together hits.
Oklahoma shuts out Florida State in Game 1
OKLAHOMA CITY — The top-ranked Oklahoma softball team is now just one win away from its third consecutive national championship. Here’s what you need to know:
- The Sooners broke open a scoreless game with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and added two runs for a nice cushion late, beating Florida State 5-0 in Game 1 of the Women’s College World Series championship series.
- With Wednesday night’s win, Oklahoma has now extended its Division I-record winning streak to 52 games. And it hasn’t been easy here at the WCWS, as Stanford twice pushed the Sooners to the brink and Florida State went toe-to-toe with the Sooners for much of Game 1.
- If the Sooners beat Florida State a second time, Oklahoma will have won five of the last seven national championships in the sport it is absolutely dominating. Legendary coach Patty Gasso, in her 29th season at Oklahoma, is chasing her seventh title.
- The two teams will meet again Thursday night, with first pitch slated for 7:30 p.m. ET.
Mudge makes massive catch
As Kaley Mudge told me, she'd rather rob a home run than hit a home run, and that catch with two runners on base for OU had to feel pretty good. Haley Lee was already celebrating.
Boone adds a threat to bottom of OU lineup
Rylie Boone hits a double to center and, while celebrating, the throw from Jahni Kerr hits her arm and deflects the ball. Boone advances to third. She's so dangerous at the bottom of the OU lineup. Boone is 2-for-3 today, both doubles. Facing her and then turning to the top of the lineup with Jayda Coleman and Tiare Jennings is so hard to beat.

Seminoles saving Sandercock
Down 4-0 in the sixth, Florida State appears to officially wave the white flag. The Seminoles are saving ace Kathryn Sandercock for Game 2.
Jayda Coleman's got an arm
What a throw by Jayda Coleman from the warning track. She threw out Kalei Harding, who was trying to turn a single into a double, with so much time that Harding didn't even bother sliding.
OU up 4-0
Oklahoma leads 4-0 as we enter the sixth inning. Florida State is at the top of the order and the Seminoles desperately need to recover from a huge momentum shift in favor of OU.
Not looking good for Florida State
Brutal. Ali DuBois walks Grace Lyons to load up the bases. There are two outs and OU has already scored one run this inning.
Not the inning FSU needed on offense; Ali DuBois on the mound
Two pop outs and a strikeout send the Seminoles back into the field trailing 3-0. The choice in the circle is senior Ali DuBois. Florida State really can't afford another inning like the last one.

How Oklahoma is pulling ahead
Makenna Reid should not have thrown that ball to first. She probably wasn't going to get the out because of how slow the dribbler was, but obviously, the off-target throw allowed Oklahoma to get another run across. Just a disastrous inning for Reid. Coach Lonni Alameda is going to get some questions about why she put Reid, a freshman with limited experience, into a tied game over Kathryn Sandercock.
Sooners up by 2 runs
The Sooners add another run on a single from Alyssa Brito. You can feel the momentum shift in this stadium. FSU prides itself on halting momentum swings — we'll see how the 'Noles handle this.
Oklahoma on the board
And facing her very first batter, Reid gives up a double to Kinzie Hansen. Jordy Bahl, who was the pinch runner on first, scoots all the way around to score on the play. Oklahoma has taken a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth.
Florida State's Makenna Reid warming up
Mack Leonard struck out swinging and then hits her first batter in the fourth inning. I was eyeing the FSU dugout for a pitching change and was a bit surprised to see Leonard out again at the start.
Now FSU makes the change. Makenna Reid is warming up in the circle.
Leonard allowed one hit and had two strikeouts through three innings (50 pitches).
Leonard's struggles at the plate
With runners on second and third and two outs, FSU pitcher Mack Leonard came to the plate with a chance to help herself. She crushed a pitch that landed about a foot into foul territory and then struck out to end the inning. Leonard bats for herself because she's typically a good hitter with power, but she's been struggling lately. She's now just 2-for-29 in the NCAA tournament.

Another error by Oklahoma
This time pitcher Jordy Bahl doesn't secure a quick hopper and Jahni Kerr advances to first base. That's two errors tonight for the Sooners and Bahl's first this season.
Pitching change coming up for FSU?
Mack Leonard gets out of the inning with little trouble. A pop out to the catcher and a grounder to first. Still, Kat Sandercock is warming up, so we may see her relatively soon. FSU coach Lonni Alameda has used a new approach to her pitching staff this year, spreading out duties so the batters they face don't get too comfortable or familiar with any one pitcher. Alameda said yesterday that she specifically did not want to "overexpose" Sandercock.
Oklahoma in scoring position
Rylie Boone smashes a double off the wall in right center. I think it got stuck at the bottom of the wall for a minute there. Oklahoma's got a runner in scoring position with one out and the top of the lineup coming up.
