As a heavyweight wrestling champion in the WWE and then as the perpetually shirtless Drax the Destroyer in the MCU, Dave Bautista has been swole for decades. At a recent stage in his career, with action-heavy roles in See, Army of the Dead and Dune, Bautista told Men's Health he was eating every four hours to support his gains. It was literally in his contract.
However, in a recent Instagram post, Bautista revealed that he has been undergoing a slightly different kind of bulking body transformation in his next role. While sharing a mirror selfie from the set of new thriller Knock at the Cabin, he explained to his followers that he has been gaining weight to get in character and achieve "fatty status," and also joked about the first rule of mirror selfies: make sure the glass is clean.
"So I was trying to take a solid pic of myself to document my transition to fatty status. Which will soon come to an end thank god!" The actor wrote in the caption. "Upon inspection of this pic I noticed a few issues. 1: Let’s start with the obvious. You can see my balls... 2: Apparently I brush my teeth in a way that toothpaste flys all over the bathroom. I’ll have to work on that. 3: I have officially turned into the grouchy emoji."
Knock at the Cabin is the fifteenth feature from director M. Night Shyamalan, which began shooting in April and has been described as a home invasion horror movie that takes place during the apocalypse. Bautista stars alongside Harry Potter alum Rupert Grint, Mindhunter and The Matrix Resurrections actor Jonathan Groff, and Avenue 5 and Old's Nikki Amuka-Bird.
